This project included new Central Electric and Traffic Control (CETC) facilities at the existing location in South Station. It was a design-build project that required a three phase implementation in order to maintain a permanently operating control center. A secondary back-up facility was designed and built for this purpose at the Cobble Hill location as the operational facility while the South Station location was renovated. It is now maintained as an emergency back-up facility to monitor all trains in the Northeast Corridor.
