Opening of Flats At 8th

New Bedford, MA | 2026

We were thrilled to be recognized and participate in a ribbon-cutting ceremony earlier this month celebrating the opening of Flats At 8th, a new 52-unit mixed-income apartment building, developed by Alinea Capital Partners, LLC, in downtown New Bedford.

This building was the vision of L. Duane Jackson, who, with his team at Alinea led a collaboration of city and state officials and a full development team including:

  • the City of New Bedford--Mayor Jon Mitchell and Director of Housing and Community Development Joshua Amaral;
  • lenders Mass Housing Investment Corporation, MassHousing, Bank of America, and JP Morgan Chase & Co;
  • DHK Architects Inc., led by President Fernando J. Domenech, Jr., FAIA, LEED AP; and Associate Thomas Schwake, AIA, LEED AP; and
  • D.F. Pray General Contractors.

This team worked to permit, fund, design and construct the fully occupied building - now home to 52 families.

The DHK team on the project also included Majid Lashkari, AIA, and Zhuang Guo.
